Hello from me, this is my first blog and I thought I’d share a little about me since my main website is still in development. OK, first the formalities, my name is Bev Steele and I am a certified Horticulturist and Landscape Designer offering friendly and reliable Garden Maintenance services to south of the river locations, and Garden Planning services throughout the Perth metro area.
And now some information that delves a little more into me! Although my background is in office work, I decided to change career later in life to follow my passion for gardens. The desire had been with me from a very young age to design gardens but I started the journey more on gut instinct than anything else.
I took up TAFE courses on horticulture and landscape design and started a garden maintenance business to make some extra money. I couldn’t then have grasped how important gardening in itself would become to me – how much I would enjoy the garden maintenance side of my business or how important it would be to the infinitely deep field of landscape design. In short I unlocked a passion, nay an obsession which seems only to grow each day. Truly I understand now why gardeners continue to garden almost to the end of their lives and I would encourage anyone reading this to give it a try.
I could go on and on about gardening but I should also say is that for me, Landscape Design is intertwined with it. Good design is vital to the success of a garden and the balance of form and function is what makes great gardens stand out. Equally the fulfillment of the design is in the living of the garden and the people that use it, maintain it and develop it over the years as life and requirements change. You see, of course garden design and garden maintenance exist one without the other, but for me the one is truly not complete without the other.
I have come to understand that it’s not just about gardening, it’s about what I value; family, community, beauty and care for our world. And so, this blog will be to share news of my business and my journey, about how I use my values in my business, and about sharing my knowledge. I will answer your questions and give advice on products and services, local businesses and all my passions….. I hope you enjoy it.
